Vu Thi Hong – Breaking Free: My Journey from a Humble Village to Inspiring Adventures

Hello, adventurers! My name is Vu Thi Hong, but you can call me Hồng. Born on July 10, 1998, in the quiet countryside of Thai Binh Province, my life’s journey has been a winding road of growth, perseverance, and discovery. Today, I reside in the breathtaking mountains of Ha Giang, a place where the clouds kiss the peaks, and every sunrise whispers tales of resilience and hope.

Through this blog, I want to share my story – not just of where I’ve been, but of what I’ve learned along the way. I hope it inspires you to embrace challenges, step beyond your comfort zone, and discover the extraordinary within yourself.

Roots of Resilience: Vu Thi Hong – Childhood in Thai Binh

Family and Hard Work

My journey began in a quiet village in Thai Binh, where life was shaped by the rhythm of nature and the enduring strength of a hardworking family. Growing up, my parents were the pillars of resilience and determination.

They took on countless jobs – farming in the fields, raising livestock, and selling goods at the local market – all to ensure that my siblings and I could go to school and have a chance at a better future.

Daily Life and Early Lessons

Life in the countryside was simple yet demanding. Our home was surrounded by endless green rice fields that stretched to the horizon, a view that inspired both calmness and ambition. Though the land offered us sustenance, it also demanded relentless effort.

I spent countless mornings watching my parents leave for the fields before sunrise and return home exhausted, yet still wearing smiles that reflected their hope for us.

After school, I eagerly pitched in with household responsibilities. My days were filled with cooking meals, sweeping the courtyard, feeding the animals, and, during weekends, helping my parents in the rice paddies.

Summers were especially busy; I would spend hours crafting straw mats, weaving baskets, or making other handmade goods with my siblings to earn a small income. These activities weren’t just chores – they were lessons in perseverance, resourcefulness, and the value of every single effort.

The Value of Education

Despite the challenges, my parents prioritized education. They often reminded us that while hard work was important, knowledge was the key to changing our future.

I remember studying by the dim light of an oil lamp at night, the chirping of crickets in the background. Each book I opened felt like a small window to a world beyond the borders of our village – a world I was determined to explore one day.

While my childhood was marked by hard work, it was also filled with moments of joy and connection. Festivals were a time when our entire community came together, celebrating with traditional songs, dances, and games. I cherished those moments of laughter and togetherness, which strengthened my belief in the power of unity and support.

Thai Binh taught me invaluable lessons that I carry with me to this day: the importance of gratitude, the strength of family bonds, and the belief that even the smallest efforts can sow the seeds of a brighter future. It was in this humble village that my resilience was born, setting the foundation for the adventures and challenges I would face in the years to come.

Vu Thi Hong – First Steps Beyond the Comfort Zone

When I was accepted into my dream university in bustling Hanoi, I made a bold promise to myself: I would be financially independent. Moving from a peaceful village to a sprawling city was like stepping into another world. Hanoi was vibrant and alive, but my determination to succeed was tested almost immediately.

My first job? Washing dishes at a local eatery. Ironically, washing dishes had always been my least favorite chore at home. My clumsiness didn’t help; I broke so many plates that the compensation nearly broke my spirit.

But I didn’t give up. From dishwashing, I transitioned to waiting tables, and later to working in a clothing store. Yet, each role came with new challenges, from spilled drinks to accounting errors. Failure became my teacher, reminding me to rise every time I fell.

A Love Story and New Beginnings

During my university years, I met my husband – a connection built on shared dreams and mutual support. Amidst the chaos of studies and part-time jobs, we became each other’s source of strength.

Moving to Ha Giang brought family support, but I felt confined in the role of a stay-at-home mom. While I cherished time with my child, I longed to rediscover myself and contribute beyond the home. When my child turned 18 months, I made a life-changing decision to pursue my passions again.

With my husband’s unwavering support, I began to rebuild my confidence, balancing family and personal growth. Our love story became not just about partnership but about empowering each other to thrive. It was a reminder that love means growing together while supporting each other’s dreams.
